Emergency Command Center
On February 3, 1997, the Butte Emergency Command Center (ECC) moved to a new 2000 square foot facility with an adjoining 1600 square foot support building. The new center includes seven control positions with state of the art ModucomUltra-Com NT computer radio consoles and five call taking positions. The detached support building is used to support large and complex incidents. This building also houses a state of the art radio vault with the most reliable radio components available. Finally , a one hundred twenty foot antenna tower completes the new complex. This project was financed by CDF Fire at a cost of $1.5 million. This new center was designed to meet the needs of CDF Fire, Butte County and Cities served by our department for the next thirty. CDF Fire replaces console components every ten to twelve years. The next upgrade should occur about the year 2009. If trends continue, the next upgrade for console components alone will cost $500,000 to $600,000. In January of 2003 the Butte Unit ECC received a new enhanced 9-1-1 phone system which fully integrated into the center's computer aided dispatch (CAD) system. Finally, the Butte Unit ECC is transitioning into a state-of-the-art CAD system in November of 2005. This CAD system adds many enhanced features which will result in faster, more efficient utilization of the department's emergency resources.
